Executive Assistant

Description

A mature, qualified executive assistant with excellent computer skills required to assist the Executive Director and Founder build the organization.

General Requirements

Looking for someone with excellent executive administrative skills in place. Looking for someone with passion around alleviating poverty for children and wants to give back to the community. No experience as an executive admin required, but the skills to do the job is extremely important and understands what that type of position entails. The successful candidate will want the opportunity to sink their teeth into challenging work. We are looking for someone who is interested in expanding his or her skill-set. Must have excellent computer abilities, executive communication abilities, coordination skills and positive attitude.

Mentor / Volunteer Role Description

Position: The Family Mentor in the children without poverty (CWP) Sustain a Family Program is the next step in mentoring. Not only do you get immediate feedback on how well you are doing and if you are making an impact, but you have the opportunity to stop the cycle of poverty for the next generation.

Role: Work with the heads (parents) of your family through weekly or bi-weekly meetings/ discussions to complete a minimum one year family goal cycle.

We are looking for volunteers who:

  • Are sustainable in their own lifestyle, compassionate, understanding, patient, non-judgmental, trustworthy, credible, honest, listeners, fun loving, enthusiastic, successful, persistent, confident, stable, self-driven and can lead and model behaviours that are desirable to others.
  • Will tackle difficult issues without becoming discouraged and will meet the family where they are and allow the family to drive their own agenda.
  • Have a minimum of 5 years experience in the workforce with possible backgrounds including, but not limited to, trades, social work, education, management, coaching, or someone who has brought themselves out of poverty. Preference is given to someone with life experience bringing a seasoned perspective to the family.
  • Have excellent communication skills and have experience with performance programs – goals, performance reviews and or giving feedback.

Responsibilities:

  • Build a relationship, establish credibility and trust, with the parent / family. By creating this engagement with the parent, the mentor will be invited to assist the family in moving forward to their desired lifestyle by assisting in moving roadblocks.
  • By assisting the family to focus on their goals, and by having the family trust you enough to be invited in to assist them with a decision or problem, the mentor is able to assist in easing the burden of crisis in their life. When the burden is lightened, the mentor assists the family in taking another small step towards their new goals. Creating a cyclical approach to moving forward.
  • Make a 1 year commitment to the family and sign a contract.
  • Reporting requirements to CWP.
  • Participate in discussions to recommend allocating funds from CWP.
  • Assist the family to find quality household items - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. Reuse before we provide funding for new purchases, thereby saving $s for education and still meeting the need for household goods. Success:

  • CWP screens to find families poised for success and ready to move forward in their lives.
  • You are not alone. Most families have existing workers or programs in their lives. The CWP office is available to provide ongoing guidance, support and coaching.
  • A training and orientation program is provided.
